Action is the foundational key to all success. - Pablo Picasso

Dreaming is wonderful. It allows your imagination to run wild, and is an integral part of the creative process that brings about innovation, art, passion projects, and makes the world a more fascinating place to live. But more important than dreaming is doing. You can dream all you want, but without action, a dream is all it will ever be.
I often meet people who tell me that they almost quit their job, started that business, went back to school, moved to a foreign land, or bought their dream home. But life isn't about the things you almost did, is it?
What I've learned -- as someone who has moved to a foreign land, completed a degree and a diploma, quit her 9 - 5 job to start an inspired business and bought her dream home, all in the last decade -- is that dreaming doesn't bring anything to life. Neither do talent, resources, or circumstances. Action is the one and only thing within our control that we can do to nurture our dreams and see them through to fruition.
Have you ever had an idea, a beautiful dream, that you sat on for months, years, or even decades... only to be heartbroken when you see someone else has brought it to life? While the rationalization "I thought of it first" may provide temporary comfort, it doesn't give you the satisfaction of seeing your expression of that vision come to be.
In her book Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert has a beautiful metaphor for ideas and creative endeavours: that they are living organisms looking for a host. If you do nothing with the idea when it strikes, it will find someone else who will take action.
My inkling is that you ended up here, reading this post, because you have a dream in your heart. So what's stopping you?
Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. Blaming your lack of action on not having enough time or money is only wasting energy that could be spent manifesting. Action-oriented dreamers find solutions to the limitations of time and money, and engage in the creative process of problem solving. They decide to forego watching Netflix to get to spend an extra hour / night on building their dream. They decide to downsize, adhere to a strict budget, or take on side-gigs to as ways to be able to invest more into their dream.
When you are on the path to bringing your dreams to life, every decision you make can contribute to its fruition or draw you further back. If you say if lack the time or money to do what is in your heart, you must accountable to your decisions like buying that $5 coffee everyday, going out for dinner, binge watching your favourite show. In every act, you are either taking actions towards to your building your dream or you aren't.
So why do so many of us make decisions that hinder our abilities to bring our dreams to life? The answer is simple -- Fear. We are biologically programmed to avoid things that take us outside of the safety of our comfort zone. Fear of failure, of success, of the unknown, of mockery and judgement make us so afraid that we sacrifice our hearts desires so that we can stay safe.
"Is fear preventing you from taking action?" Asks author and inspiring doer Eckhart Tolle, "Acknowledge the fear, watch it, take your attention into it, be fully present with it. Doing so cuts the link between the fear and your thinking. Don't let the fear rise up into your mind. Use the power of the Now. Fear cannot prevail against it."
Do you have what it takes to bring your dream to life? Yes you do. Can you actually do it? Yes. Break down the steps of bringing your dreams to life into small, manageable actions. Give yourself deadlines. Write them down. If fear creeps into your actions, come back to the present moment, come back to the small single action you can take right now on the path of bringing your dreams to life.
I believe in the possibility of your dream and would love the opportunity to help you make it happen through the power of action. In my upcoming Dreamer to DOER seminar on January 13, 2018 you'll learn proven tactics of manifestation and about digital tools to support you along the way. Limited space is available .
